Unit 19: (Part of Learning Aim C Proposal) My script idea
More information about the story.
At the start Each patient is taken into the same hospital by real doctors who took them to the ward were all the characters will be introduced. The outpatients all have friendly conversations with each other, as they wait for some time. All were either injured or seriously ill and needed treatment as quickly as possible at the closest hospital they can find. Soon a group of men dressed as doctors take them to the ward that they will be staying in. Each wave goodbye to each other not knowing what the next thing is to happen to them. Later they are taken to a room with one man in the room. This has a hospital bed a computer desk with no computer and an analogue clock on the wall. There are also some posters on the human body on the wall to make the room feel trusting. The man is giving the nurse a black blindfold and tells the nurses to tie it over them. The nurses (panicked) tie it over the front of their eyes and nose. This is happening as they sit down into a wheelchair or lie onto the hospital bed. It is then that all patients are greeted by the sound of a deep low-pitched voice of the doctor who tells them that they all have contracted hepatitis and need emergency medical drugs to cure their pain. This is at the start of the film. This doctor is the drug dealer who gives the patients the drugs and has put the hospital into a hostage situation.
While some patients agree others disagree. Those who disagree leave the hospital and can untie their blindfold. They leave with someone always following them. Those who agree are put down and are unable to untie their blindfold as well as locked in place.
The patient who has agreed with this hears muffled voices of an eastern European language being spoken and starts to be sceptical. He questions what they are going to be taking and the “nurse” assures him/ her that they will be taking a new form of anaesthetic “in the form of a pill”. The nurses tell the protagonist that they are going to be back in a few moments. They wait but only two doctors with a very heavy Russian accent ask him to spit on a piece of paper. The protagonist abides by what he says. This leads towards the Russian saying that he will give the patient the new form of anaesthetic (Which is of course a heavy dosage of a mix between Hallucinogenic drugs). The protagonist asks a question and his last before he takes the new anaesthetic: “Will I get rid of the pain from my injury?” The doctor lies and confidently suggests that he has tested this drug before and it removes pain instantly. He takes this mysterious pill with some water. Immediately, the patients who agree start sweating and begin to have post-traumatic stress related panic attacks. They all have flashbacks of themselves experiencing something happening in the past that they remember. While the patients have seizures and hallucinations. The patients can’t even hear what anyone is saying or any sound in general and spend an extra 12 hours inside that room. We see what one patient is seeing himself running through a forest. He is screaming almost like he is in a lot of pain out loud inside the room. He screams out his mother's name “Sarah” as he feels he is running away from an imaginary monster and needs her help. But it’s no use and refuses to breath in and out normally. Therefore, dying from asphyxiation. The character who survives is stuck in a coma and is questioning reality. He hears a shriek from the other character at the corner of the room. He tries to move but struggles and feels stuck. He gets cold and feels nervous from the noises traveling through his head while time is flying. In his case very fast. Feeling lots of adrenaline. He still see’s various blues, reds and every other colour and imagines himself as leaving this world. He does, kind of. The trouble is that he starts to feel something crawl onto his hands and tickle his feet. He burst out into laughter but also cries. He then gets depressed and is forced to accept his life as it is. He starts to feel confused and questions a forceful shove behind his back. Suddenly he realises as he is waking up questioning to the woman opposite him what is going, where he is what is the time and what is your name and is anything real. The women (who is a doctor that studies people who have suffered substance abuse) tells him that this is real and that he is one out of 5 people to have survived this. She asks him what his experience was from the drug but insists that what is happening isn’t real. She interrupts him when he is talking about how fake humans are and what they see isn’t the truth. She assures him that this is completely real and not fake. She adds that the Doctors where merely acting as doctors and are criminals who are selling this drug to make millions of roubles. That those people were hired from the black market. The protagonist requests to see them, however they are seen wearing plague doctor masks in the cctv recording. She asks about what happened during taking the drug since it was a full day that they were in the room. The protagonist is honest and suggests that he was drugged and doesn’t remember much about what happened. He only knows that he saw his family and that was it. The doctor points out that he is bruised and has cuts on his arms which frightens the protagonist out.
At the end the protagonist has regular meetings with the doctor requesting he has himself taken to court to confront the men in person. The film ends with the protagonist and the doctor walking out a brightly lit open door. As they stop moving the film shows a medium shot still of them about to walk out as it plays the end credits.
